Dr. Jane Tan
Fellowship - Hand Surgery
Our hand and wrist is made of up 27 bones, tendons, joints and ligaments which are in consistent motion as we go about are daily lives. We use them to tie our shoes, cook, type or simply wave to a friend.
Sometimes hand pain due to an injury or arthritis make every day tasks difficult. It is estimated that one out of every five people living in the United States has at least one joint with signs or symptoms of arthritis. About half of arthritis sufferers are under age 50. It typically occurs from either disease or trauma.
Hand Surgeons receive specialized training to treat problems with the hand, wrist and forearm and treat these problems with and without surgery. Common conditions include carpal tunnel syndrome, wrist pain, fractures to the hand or wrist, and arthritis.
